welcome! this is the recs page

it won't be coherent, and is extremely unfinished.

i put the pages out in very unfinished states a lot... don't worry about it.

The case of Hana and Alice - It's about schoolgirls solving a murder mystery, but not really; it's more about them slacking off and connecting with others. It fits this really specific niche of mine more easily covered by live action; "cute girls doing cute things"-adjacent, but they actually feel like real people :D Peak slice-of-life. Some could find it boring, Iwai's filmatography is slow-paced and calm, but Case, being one of his more light-hearted ones is an outlier. About his other works. they're boring. and that's a good thing. but not to everyone.

After poisoning the brass band, a group of slacker schoolgirls must train to replace it. This movie covers the niche i mentioned up there with Case. Students following their dreams, slacking off or just having fun :). It's perfect, immaculate. I put it in my favorites folder with school of rock (yet another music-themed movie?) and One Hour Photo. I think it was swing girls that really got me into music themed media. The moment i found out about its existence, i watched it ASAP. Shinobu Yaguchi's really good at portraying the simplicity of school-life.
